For Chuck E. Cheese’s, there are 2 audiences: Kids to drive the nag factor and moms to get them to say yes to going to CEC more often. We recognized that fun is what CEC is all about. But we realized that the real motivation for kids is the tickets – and how they don’t symbolize just fun, but winning. So CEC is less like a playground and more like a kids’ casino. And the tickets are their currency. So we showed them that any day could be both fun and exciting. The campaign name: “Today is your Chuck E. day”.

For the parents of kids between ages three and eight, CEC should be the best restaurant ever. Not just a once-a-year-birthday-party place, but a destination for over seven hundred occasions per year – more fun lunches or dinners. We showed the benefits to parents, by reinforcing new menu items they’d like. In other words, it was better for everyone, so parents could say yes more often. And the results prove that, in fact, they are.
